The fundamental goal of every Christian must be that at the end of our earthly lives, we enter Heaven and live eternally in the presence of our Eternal and loving Father. And in order to achieve this goal, it is not enough to pray all day, to fast, to fulfill penance, to get to the point of sweating holy water, etc. None of this is sufficient. We will not be able to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven unless we have a true love in our hearts.
How we live, how we behave, how we treat our neighbor, how we talk, what we say, how we say it; if we endure offenses, if we forgive, if we give everything without expecting anything in return, if we promptly help those in need; at the end, this way of living is the one that will measure the treasures that we have accumulated in Heaven. If we practice all these things and become protagonists in many other works of charity, we will be accumulating great treasures in Heaven, where the treasure is not corrupted or ended. As St. Paul writes to the Corinthians, "...the greatest of these is love" - works of charity - a very important aspect of Christian devotion to strengthen our spiritual life.
Remember that the words that come out of our mouth have power, and if we insult someone, those words are like poison and hurt the soul; and even if it is not noticed, the wound is made, and the damage will become palpable sooner or later. On the contrary, instead of hating and insulting, we love and bless others. Our words will be like perfumed balm for the soul of our brothers and sisters, and for God himself. So let us be very careful when we address our children, husbands, wives, relatives, and friends, because an evil word can make the soul of our loved ones be lost forever, but a well-spoken and holy word can bring the soul to Heaven, and this action gives us "points" in order to gain a special place in the Father's house.
Our works are the reflection of what our hearts and our souls are filled of. Our mouth and thoughts speak about what our heart is filled with, and the way our works are done, the same color will be for our soul: Black or White. What color is my soul? Faith without works is dead. Works without charity are useless. So as we have said at the beginning, the key to success for our ultimate goal, Heaven, is to perform all of our works with love based on the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ which is faithfully transmitted through the Church in our Catholic Faith.
As the Bible cites in 1 Corinthians 16:14, "Let all thy work be done with love," and as St. Augustine wrote: "Love God and do as you please."
May our Almighty God and the Blessed Virgin bless and protect us.
¡Laudetur Iesus Christus!
