Is this a main meal or a dessert? In my family, we always made it into a main meal, and we would make a lot of it. I come from Slovakia, and this is everyone's favorite traditional food, especially children's top favorite. Once strawberries or plums are in season, we would make 100 of these balls and freeze them for later. Because my parents came to town, we made some (only 60) out of frozen strawberries. They disappeared within couple minutes.
5 cooked potatoes
3 1/4 cups flour
Mash cooked potatoes with flour and 1 egg. Make it into a dough. If the dough is too sticky, add little more flour. Pick pieces of dough - big enough that you can put the strawberry inside, and cover the strawberry with the dough making it into a ball. Put balls into boiling water. When balls float on the top (about 12 minutes), they are ready to be taken out. You can put butter on them so they do not stick together, and you can top them with strawberry yogurt, or traditionally in Slovakia we put bread crumbs on the top.
