Honey Sweetened Apple Crisp

This is a great alternative to traditional apple crisp. It’s very easy and quick to throw together and we love honey in our house so this has become a favorite.

 

Ingredients
4-6 apples (the fresher and crispier the better)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter cubed


Topping:
2 cups rolled oats
¼ cup honey
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
Optional extras (nuts or coconut flakes)
2 tablespoons butter cubed

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and sprinkle cubes of butter on a 9x9 baking dish
2. Peel, core and slice apples
3. Combine apples with lemon juice, honey and cinnamon
4. Spread out apple mixture in baking dish
5. Combine topping mixture and pour into a layer on top of apple mixture
6. Sprinkle cubes of butter on top
7. Bake 34-45 minutes or until apples are very tender
8. Serve warm with ice cream or yogurt
