This Lent... Bring Back Family Prayer

Written by

In the Garden of Gethsemane on Holy Thursday, Our Lord asked his Apostles to stay awake and pray with Him. He wanted them to be near Him - to go through His Agony along with Him. Instead, they fell asleep - all, that is, except Judas.

The title of this article sounds a bit like a Pinterest board; I must admit!  But the purpose of the title is quite the contrary.  In today’s media saturated world, laden with images of “perfection”, it is easy to for one to become downtrodden when comparing his or her reality with what is presented online.  Often times the picture perfect portrayals on blogs, websites, and social media discourage those trying to accomplish a particular goal or feat simply because what they produce never quite turns out as beautifully as what they saw online.  Unfortunately, even when it comes to faith-related topics, one can succumb to this perfection paralysis.

The Necessity of Beauty in the Home

Written by

Why is beauty important? Beauty has traditionally been counted as one of the ultimate values, along with goodness, truth, and justice. Beauty awakens us, brings us joy, and provides us with a sense of awe. Beauty reminds us of God’s presence in the world.

Visiting Jesus

Written by

As a working mom with a busy life, I encourage all the families to make time to take their children to Adoration and to see the wonders this will do for them and for the whole family. We need to have faith and hope that our children will continue this practice (in their future and the future of their children), and that they will carry it on to their children.

Why do we need ten reasons to attend daily Mass? God created us -- the very reason we exist, living and breathing right now, is because of the goodness and infinite love of God, and we owe it to Him to spend time with Him every day. This should be enough of a reason for us. Churches should be filled every day.... but the reality is they are not. Perhaps it’s because we will never really understand the power or beauty of the Mass. As St. John Vianney said, “If we really understood the Mass, we would die of joy.”

We MUST SHOW them!

The best way to make prayer time a priority in a family is to begin even before marriage.  If the spouses are praying for one another (even before they meet), they will inevitably have a stronger prayer life with each new change and challenge that comes with family life.
